Grass-Fed Pork

Our daughter Vanessa raises organic pastured pigs for her FFA Project under the "Alexandre Kids" Label.  Her pigs are from a rare breed of hog selected hundreds of years ago for its superior taste and texture.  The Tamworth is an English breed of hog that was of distinctly bacon-type. This pork has not been genetically altered much like the pork sold in your typical grocery market.  These pork take a lot longer to grow, but are well worth the wait.   It produces a moist, tender meat that is arguably the best tasting pork on earth.

The Tamworth is a true grazing pig that  prefers open pastures where it eats various grasses and vegetation.   Vanessa's pigs are raised in large pastures where they can exercise to their hearts content, and socialize with other hogs and people on the farm. The pigs love to live outside where they are allowed to run and play, with access to forages and grasses to eat and also root around in the soil to find roots and soil dwelling creatures to eat. Rooting also allows them to cool down by laying and coating themselves in/with dirt.  A pasture raised hog can root and dig to find its own minerals.  In addition to grazing, we feed our hogs a special mix of whole grains and minerals, that's it!  They are free of any hormones, steroids, antibiotics, growth stimulants or chemicals of any kind.  The result is a pure product that is safe, nutritious and best of all, flavorful.

Vanessa currently has 8 breeding sows and 2 boars with 25 pigs that are ready for market.   Alexandre Kids will sell whole and half pigs and pork cuts in local North Coast markets.  The pastured pork is certified organic with CCOF.
